Fashion & TextilesBTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art & Design, Fashion & Textiles Coursework/Exams (%): 100/0 This course provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the world of creative fashion and textiles. You will learn the theoretical and practical skills required to become a successful and inspirational designer. You will research others’ art, design and craft and develop your own ideas using sketchbooks and design sheets. Your studies will include fashion visualisation using a variety of 2D materials and techniques, including some computer designing. You will learn to design and make an individual fabric and practise your accessory and garment making skills. During the second year, you will develop your portfolio for university interviews. This course is equivalent to 3 A Levels. AS/A2 Textiles Coursework/Exams (%): 75/25 On this course you’ll develop your knowledge and understanding of constructed, dyed and printed fabrics, fashion illustration/ garment and accessory construction. You’ll create sketchbooks and design sheets full of research, ideas and development for the construction of final textile and fashion pieces. You’ll also experiment with wet and dry two-dimensional media in sketchbooks and design sheets. You’ll explore traditional textile techniques including: thread manipulation, appliqué, batik, tie and dye, felting and weaving. Set projects are based on broad themes.
